Leigh Love is an amateur paleontologist who has made astounding finds around the Waipara river and coast, including species of giant penguins and a bony-toothed seabird that inhabited this area around the time of the dinosaurs. He frequently collaborates with Canterbury Museum experts, and has learnt much about the richness is of our unique geological area and rarity of some species, (like the waiparaconus pictured). At this talk, Leigh will bring fascinating samples and share his knowledge and passion for fossil hunting and study. A tour with Leigh to a local fossil site will follow on Saturday 16 November, 2 – 4pm. Details tbc.
